I UNDERSTAND THE BASIC SERVICE IS FREE. ARE THERE ANY STRINGS ATTACHED?
The basic service is free to singular subscribers and there are no strings attached, hidden or otherwise. To cover costs, the free basic service does have tightly controlled and appropriate advertising that does NOT track your activity. Our fee-based subscriptions do not have ads.
WHAT IS THE DIGITAL COURIER™?
The digital courier is a premium paid feature which enables the user to issue temporary, encrypted credentials to a person or company. The receiver can use these credentials on a special page to securely upload sensitive files directly into your account. For simplicity and security, the receiving guest can only upload files. Guests do not have access or authority to do anything else with your account, and you can revoke the associated credentials at any time!
WHEN I SHARE AN ITEM WITH SOMEONE, MUST THEY ALSO HAVE AN ACCOUNT TO VIEW THE ITEM?
No. For basic file sharing, the receiver does not need a subscription to see the item(s) you invited them to view. However, to use some of the advance, premium options, both the sender and receiver must have active, paid subscriptions.
I HAVE HEARD THAT MANY OTHER FILE SHARING SERVICES ARE SLOW AND SOMETIMES PONDEROUS TO USE, WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM "MY ORANGE CONNECTION?"
We think you will be astounded with how easy and fast our system works. One recent test candidate with limited computer skills thought she had done something wrong because she did not have to wait for a large photo to load. The photo was already in the designated folder before she realized it.
DOES MY ORANGE CONNECTION REQUIRE A SYSTEM SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD TO MY COMPUTER?
NO! We do NOT require anything further than simple "handshake" cookies similar to those used by your bank. Everything is stored on our secure servers. We are aware that some popular file sharing services require software downloads which are often followed by system updates using your computer as a storage platform. That operational profile is often old technology that is notorious for security weaknesses. That means your computer and all of its files may be at risk while the service provider is charging you fees at the same time they use your computer to make their service function. Further, why would you invite people to view a few folders of files in the same house where you store all of your valuables? My Orange Connection provides a secure and dedicated place for subscribers to share only the pictures, videos and files they wish to have others view while the rest of their personal data remains secure in the storage arena of their choice.
I HAVE NOTICED THAT YOUR SERVICE CLAIMS TO MEET AND EXCEED HIPAA SECURITY REQUIREMENTS. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
All Orange Connection services are designed with HIPAA and other privacy parameters in mind. Further, The Iron Jacket Web Security Library protecting My Orange Connection meets and exceeds all published Web Security requirements for HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 - HIPAA Act of 1996). This means that you can safely use any level of Orange Connection services to do something like sending a picture of a changing mole, or perhaps a weird rash, to your doctor as long as the doctor has a similarly secure protocol for handling patient communications. ARE THERE OTHER PRIVACY REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE MET BY MY ORANGE CONNECTION?
Yes. In addition to HIPAA, The Iron Jacket Web Security Library that encompasses Orange Connection services meets and exceeds all published Web security requirements for: COPPA, FINRA, Safeharbor/EU, and FERPA.
We have a very public "Don't Mess With Us" policy. Messing with a Website protected by The Iron Jacket has been equated to French-kissing an Ebola patient. The Iron Jacket has adopted the "Eraser" logo for a reason.
WHY IS USING MY ORANGE CONNECTION BETTER THAN USING EMAIL?
Email is generally very restrictive on size, quantity and often quality, for either the sender or the receiver and frequently both. Most importantly, even when using SSL servers, email is often the least secure** means of sending and receiving information, especially information of a sensitive or private nature. Using My Orange Connection eliminates the worry and the hassle.
HOW SECURE ARE MY FILES?
Your files are very secure, perhaps more secure on our servers than anywhere else. A recent "Tag-line" states; "My Orange Connection is NSA proof." We can make this claim because all of our servers are protected by our proprietary, Web Security Library The Iron Jacket. Visiting this Website will be very enlightening. Our own technical team does not have access to subscriber files.
WHAT KINDS OF ITEMS AM I ABLE TO SHARE?
The subscriber may share any kind of file with anyone at anytime*. When the subscriber uploads an item, the system automatically reads the extension attached to the item and then places it in one of the four primary item management folders: Audio, Documents, Photos and Videos.
HOW DO I SHARE ITEMS?
- Log in to your My Orange Connection account.
- Determine what type of item (category) you want to share from in the OC master console and create a unique / specific new folder to use for the share.
- You now have a specific sharing folder to which you add only the items you wish to share. This group of items within a folder is called a gallery. Using this procedure, you can create as many sharing folders and galleries as you want to use***.
- Go to your computer desktop and chose the document, audio file, photo or video you wish to share and drag it to the "Feed Me" box on your OC management page.
- A copy of the item will now be in the main "All" or master folder.
- Drag the item from the master folder to the new share gallery you just created.
- Alternate method is to use the "Feed Me" Box by entering the name of the folder to send your item to in the box provided. This procedure sends your item directly to the folder you created in steps 2 and 3 above.
- With the folder or gallery item you wish to share highlighted, go to "Send To" on your contacts bar.
- When you click on the send to button a new menu will appear asking for an email address**.
- As quickly as you complete adding the email address, the system is sending an encrypted message to the email you entered and you will see a confirmation pop-up.
- The receiver will have an invitation to view your shared file by clicking on an encrypted link.
- Another new page will appear asking the guest for the randomly generated and encrypted password included with the invitation.
- When the guest enters the password, the file instantly appears for viewing. (The item cannot be edited or copied by conventional copy and paste methods.)
- After the guest closes out, the access code is erased so that re-entry is denied.
CAN ANYONE COPY OR EDIT ITEMS I HAVE SHARED?
No one is able to edit or copy and paste items. However, these services are available in some of our premium/paid subscriptions and can be purchased as additional add-on features designed for continued HIPAA, COPPA, FINRA, Safe Harbor and FERPA security.
HOW MUCH DATA CAN I STORE IN MY SUBSCRIPTION?
Subscribers may store as much as their respective subscription level will allow. While the basic free subscription has lower storage capacity our premium enterprise level subscriptions are almost boundless. Please visit the "Pricing" tab to review what size storage plan may be best for you.
HOW LONG CAN I STORE MY FILES?
Your files may be stored on our servers for as long as you maintain your subscription. Free basic subscriptions require an annual, verifiable owner information and contact update. All other accounts require pre-payment of the annual subscription fee. Annual renewal notices will be auto generated 30 days prior to the actual renewal deadline. NOTE: Failure to process annual renewal will be treated as abandonment of the account. The day after an account fails to renew a notice of abandonment will be sent to the email of record. If the account is not renewed within (30) thirty days after the notice, the subscription account is considered abandoned. At that time all information and data will be erased on the 31st day and will not be retrievable.
CAN I UPGRADE MY INITIAL SUBSCRIPTION?
Yes. You may upgrade at anytime by calling our sales department. Payment of the annual subscription fee for the new service will be due at that time. A credit for the unused portion of the smaller account will be applied against the new balance due.
WHAT IF I PURCHASE A LARGER SUBSCRIPTION THAN I NEED, CAN I DOWNGRADE AND RECEIVE A REFUND?
Generally, No. To downgrade you will have to wait until you have reached your renewal anniversary and then call our sales team to make the adjustment. Prior to doing this we suggest that you make copies of everything in your account as the downsizing process may damage or destroy stored items if you have miscalculated your data volume.
I HAVE BECOME AWARE THAT MY ORANGE CONNECTION IS BEING USED IMPROPERLY BY OTHERS WHAT CAN I DO?
If you become aware or suspicious of improper use of My Orange Connection, we would hope that moral and ethical responsibility would guide you in your decision to file a notice or complaint with us. Please share as much information as you have with us via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org Also, be aware that slander, false and/or malicious reporting will be reported to legal authorities for immediate and vigorous prosecution.
WHAT CAN I DO IF I HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE SYSTEM AND I CAN'T FIND THE ANSWER HERE OR IN THE SET-UP SECTION?
